Fall-ing in Love! Savoury City Takes a Look at Some Great Fall Wedding Trends!

Fall weddings are becoming increasingly fashionable of late and with good reason! As summer fades into autumn, those gorgeous natural fall hues emerge creating a lovely backdrop for your nuptials. While a summer wedding can be fabulous, there is something about the cooler climate, the soft breeze in the air and the fall light that creates a magical mood. Now that summer is nearing an end and Vancouverites begin the annual transition from flip-flops to Jimmy Choo’s we thought it would be the best time to talk about the new Fall wedding trends!

In the recent past, the “Gatsby” look has been a common theme for Fall weddings, but currently, there is a move to create something more personal–besides, did anyone read the ending of that book?? While the old-world look is still in fashion, brides are opting for less opulence and more of a return to the classic minimal feel. Simple elegance is the key here.

Table Manners

While Fall weddings inspire autumnal tones for table decor, the trend is to push the boundaries a bit and add some rich colours and lush fabrics to the mix–velvet ribbons around menus, chairs and programs and luxe throws for your cooler evening weather. These details add a sense a certain poshness and whimsy to the event!

When it comes to decor, we would like to gently suggest that we are a tad over the mason jars and twine look. For a Fall wedding, why not try something a little more organic instead: sticking to centrepieces created with local and seasonal produce is a refreshing idea and feels right for Autumn.

A Dash of Colour!

Brides have been pushing the boundaries when it comes to bridal colours lately. While the traditional white is still popular, many brides are moving away from the expected and getting creative with their dresses adding bursts of colour! This is also becoming a growing trend with grooms as well–we’re seeing a shift from basic black and dark navy to great fall colorways, such as Burgundy! If a full-on Burgundy tux is too much for your groom you could still incorporate some colour by adding a cummerbund or bowtie! The idea is that you can have fun and be creative!

Having Your Cake…

A great way to set the Fall mood with your wedding cake is to go with a matte black tiered cake. The darker colour can make decor accents stand out, emphasizing a more Autumn-like mood and vibe–think deep purples, deep reds and even metallics.
