The irony of running a thriving custom catering business is that the holidays pass you by before you even have a chance to realize it! This was definitely the case with Thanksgiving. Before I knew it, the holiday had come and gone! So, now that I have a chance to sit for a moment, I wanted to take some time to say thank you to all the very important people that make Savoury City the success it is today! I was so honoured and, yes, thankful to be voted Vancouver’s Best Catering Company in the Georgia Straight this year, and I want everyone to know that it truly takes a village to be the best!
Celebrating My Clients
Savoury City would not be where it is today without its incredible clients! They are truly more like family than customers and I’m so grateful for that! I love getting email updates and going for coffee with past brides and grooms. It’s so rewarding to know that Savoury City played a special role in the most important day in their lives and that I have the honour of continuing to be a part of their lives and watch their families grow! At the end of the day, this is why I love what I do. It’s always been about bringing people together and creating spaces for joy, laughter and love. It still amazes me after all these years how quality food, prepared with care and passion can evoke such happiness! How thankful I am, indeed, to be able to continue to be inspired by the stories, ideas, and families of my clients!
The Best Team in The World
One of the things I am most grateful for is the fact that I have two families at Savoury City: the clients and my team! I am blessed with the best team in the world! They are equal parts professional, talented, creative and dedicated—the key ingredients for success! It’s rare to look forward to coming to work, but when you have a team like I do, it’s a joy to show up every day. In the custom catering business, you expect the unexpected and organized chaos is the norm—knowing that I have this most experienced team in the industry affords me a peace of mind that I am grateful for each and every day! You just can’t do this stuff alone!
I have to say that I’m also very thankful for my partner in culinary crime, Executive Chef, Mathew K… Quite simply, his passion for food is remarkable. Mathew’s creativity, skill and vast knowledge of all things culinary makes him a joy to work with! Over the years, we’ve pushed and inspired each other to keep our menu’s innovative and new, while staying true to our belief that great food is timeless.
Thank you to all the people that have touched my life this year, both professionally and personally. As I move forward in new and exciting directions, I’m continuously grateful to all my clients, vendors, and staff for helping me to continue to make my dream a reality!
