This month we are celebrating some of Savoury City’s fabulous culinary partners! Head Honcho, Donna Wadsworth, and her partner in life and business, Blaine Arnot, are practically obsessed with offering only the very best cuisine possible, so when it comes to working with culinary partners, it’s imperative that they meet the highest standards! One of their longtime partners who share the same food philosophy as Donna and Blaine is Oyama Sausage Co.
Modern Take on the Classic Charcuterie
If you love charcuterie (almost everyone who eats meat), Oyama is the go-to establishment for the very best. One of the reasons why is because Oyama takes their charcuterie to the next level! As they explain, “modern charcuterie means exploring an ever-expanding repertoire of flavours. [They] employ the principles of traditional sausage-making to experiment with non-traditional sausage seasonings and came up with some surprising and delicious new classics.”
Oyama: A Fixture in the Heart of Granville Island
If you’ve never heard of Oyama Sausage Co., the company was founded by John and Christine van der Lieck over 30 years ago. Originally located in beautiful Oyama, B.C. (hence the name!), the business relocated to the historic Granville Island Public Market in 2001. Since moving to Granville Island, it has become a fixture for locals who want the very best produce, and tourists who want to check out what all the buzz is about. It’s for this reason you’ll probably find a rather long line up! But not to worry. The staff at Oyama are trained well and keep things moving at a fast pace!
Crafting an Experience
John and Christine, like Donna and Blaine, are never happy resting on their culinary laurels. They both love to push the boundaries, creating new and innovative culinary creations. It’s one of the reasons that it’s a natural partnership. John and Christine believe, “the passion behind Oyama isn’t just about producing quality product; it’s about crafting an experience like no other with food.” It’s a vision shared by Savoury City, as they are really in the business of creating indelible memories for their clients through food. Indeed, at the epicenter of most functions is the food. Donna and Blaine know the profound importance of that fact, and strive every day to ensure that they’re a part of creating a joyful experience!
The Message is in the Meat
It’s really about the devil in the details. While something as straightforward as charcuterie may seem trivial, it’s actually one part of a whole experience. If one aspect of the whole is sub-par, it can diminish the whole experience. The truth is fabulous charcuterie comprised of the highest quality meats will greatly elevate any function and convey to your guests that you care! The message is in the meat!
Partners in Passion
Savoury City and Oyama Sausage Co are a great combination! It’s all about passion for serving only the very best the city has to offer!
