From the very moment the first consultation started with Shayna and her event planner Stephanie, we knew this was going to be a stunner of a wedding! Shayna and Chris had an unambiguous vision for their wedding day: they wanted to be sure that their wedding reception was the “social event of the year” for their friends and family! The task for Savoury City and the fabulous team of vendors was to make sure that the food, service, décor, music and all the little wedding details were absolutely perfect to ensure that Shayna and Chris’ guests felt extra special and incredibly joyful.
The wedding and reception took place on the family’s sprawling Langley ranch, lined with 300 year old trees and an incredible view of the mountains and Golden Ears Park. The bride wore a gorgeous pale pink gown which complemented the magnificent décor at the ceremony site and the décor inside the grand tent at the top of the ranch property. The head table was fabulously long and elegant, dramatically lit with a line of beautiful hanging chandeliers, and was bursting with burgundy, red, cream and white florals. And, oh my gosh, just look at the backdrop to the couples’ place settings; an antique loveseat with a full-length mirror behind, adorned with greenery, florals, crystals and antique touches.
The reception started poolside with champagne, beer, wine and cocktails, an assortment of tray-passed hors d’oeuvres and a raw oyster bar. A trio from Musical Occasions set the mood amongst the “varied guests” attending the wedding: the beautifully dressed humans and casual local “residents” (cows) wandering the property. The guests then made their way up to the gorgeous tented venue. Once inside, the guests enjoyed a sprawling two-sided dinner buffet which was designed to celebrate the union of the bride and groom’s different heritages. The Groom’s German culture was “fused” with West-Coast flavours and textures resulting in guests enjoying a sampling of baked ling cod with spaetzle, roasted beet salad and freshly baked artisan breads. The Bride’s American Rancher heritage was honoured with perfectly prepared, good ‘ol fashioned spicy smoked beef brisket, a trio of BBQ sauces served in mason jars, twice-baked potatoes, garden succotash salad, handmade bocconcini and vine-ripened tomato salad with corn bread and sweet butter. Yee haw!
Shayna and Chris wanted a big party, and that’s exactly what they got! There were two bars in the venue completely different from each other – one was elegant and charming and included a hand-carved wooden arch with the Shayna and Chris’s names and wedding date inscribed. Then, on the other side of the venue, a “German Beer Wagon,” as grand as could be imagined, was brought in and opened up (carnival style) to entice guests to pull up a spot, and enjoy a freshly poured draft German beer. So fun! Guests danced and danced and danced into the wee hours of the morning. This was indeed the “party of the year” for Shayna and Chris, and Savoury City too!
